Ohio's voice rang out clearly at the AAPA House of Delegates this month in New Orleans, with a strong contingent of 9 delegates making their presence felt. Led by Chief Delegate Josanne Pagel, the group arrived unified and organized, offering a cohesive perspective on proposed changes to the national governing body.

This year's HOD delivered on all fronts, with spirited discussions, meaningful debates, and no shortage of fellowship. It was also an opportunity to celebrate Chief Delegate Pagel, who was awarded the House Outstanding Service Award (read more about that exciting news here).

The HOD serves as AAPA's rulemaking body, responsible for enacting policies and issuing position statements that guide the profession. Composed of apportioned representatives from Constituent Organizations and the Student Academy, it brings together delegates from across the country to debate and vote on the resolutions that will shape the future of the PA profession.

Ohio came prepared, submitting 7 resolutions this year. These focused on three key areas: the role and structure of professional organizations and their relationship to our profession, strategies for recruiting pre-PA students, and the importance of consistent messaging around our professional identity.

OAPA President and first time HOD participant, Clayton Rotuno, shared this perspective:

"The 2026 AAPA House of Delegates was one of the most organized and productive gatherings of PA leaders I have ever experienced.  Ohio’s representation and voice was formidable and influential with a strong showing of all 9 delegates. I hope to go back next year."

OAPA is proud of these delegates and appreciate their representation of the Ohio PA community on the national stage!
