Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) - Recognition & Management Strategies

Presented by Fabrizia Fiebelkorn, PA-C, Cleveland Clinic

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of the neurobiology of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and ways to recognize patients who may have problematic alcohol use, by utilizing screening tools and proper terminology.
  • Identify both pharmacological and non-pharmacologic evidence-based interventions for AUD and the mechanism of action of discussed medications.
  • Describe alcohol withdrawal, time course, risks, and medication management including dosing, and supportive measures

Speaker Biography:

Fiebelkorn PhotoFabrizia Fiebelkorn is a Physician Assistant who completed her master’s degree in health sciences at Cleveland State University and her Physician Assistant Post-Degree Professional Certificate at Cuyahoga Community College in 2017. She specializes in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine and has earned her Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Psychiatry in 2019.

Currently, she works as Consultation Liaison Psychiatric Physician Assistant at the Cleveland Clinic. She has a passion for teaching and actively contributes to the academic advancement of Psychiatry by precepting PA students.

In her free time, Fabrizia enjoys spending time with her dog, Peach, traveling, photography, and Pilates.
